There is no doubt that Facebook is the biggest and most popular social network in the world. The problem is that the more social applications that are released, the less security the users seem to have. In fact, there are both privacy and security issues that need to be dealt with.
On May 3, some users experienced something quite unusual. They realized that they were actually able to view their friends so called private conversations. Of course, as soon as the issue came about, Facebook was quick to take action. The problem was soon resolved, but it left a lot of people wondering.
If something as small as this can be there for everyone to see, what else has been happening over the last few years? Of course, every time something like this happens, the credibility of the site takes a hit.
In fact, that is not all. Imagine your partners face when they received a message that you intended for a friend. You check through your inbox and see that you did in fact send it to your friend. This was a glitch where users were receiving private messages that were meant for others.
Whilst FaceBook is saying that these are small problems, users probably do not agree. These minor glitches soon add up and a lot of FaceBook users are probably thinking that their privacy and security is not worth risking, especially when all they do is update the odd status and send messages to people they could simply ring.
As far as most people are concerned, a site with around 400 million active users should not really be having these sorts of technical hitches.
Here is one other thing; a lot of users have no idea that their privacy and security is being breached. Some people do not search Google for what the latest bugs are relating to FaceBook, so the may never know!
