Zynga is possibly the most well known company on Facebook. It provides games to members such as Farmville, Cafe World and Mafia Wars. The problem is, Facebook and Zynga are having some sort of disagreement which means Farmville might not be around for longer.
Face Book is currently taking 30% of any revenue created from games on their website. Of course, Zynga certainly do not like this fact, as they do a lot of businesses themselves. You can soon see why Zynga want a new business model, but could it work without FaceBook.
According to reports, the company is so annoyed, that it has threatened to leave Facebook for good. Zynga is a big company in its own right, and it has suggested that developing its own social gaming site is definitely in the cards!
As far as I can see, each site bounces off each other. Facebook gets a lot more page views because people return to play the games and in return, they give Zynga a lot more users than they would have otherwise. Many people would not have even heard of them if it was not for Face Book.
Of course, here is one factor that needs to be taken into consideration; FaceBook is bigger. There are thousands of companies that would be prepared to take up a similar deal with FaceBook, so there is no need for them to be particularly worried. On the other hand, Zynga is likely to see its revenue figures decrease a great deal if it does indeed, decide to leave FaceBook.
According to many critics throughout the internet, by leaving FaceBook for good, Farmville is committing suicide. Essentially the only reason people log on daily is because when they visit FaceBook, they are constantly reminded of their gameplay via consistent alerts.
