Google recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of the game Pac Man by making a small version of the game playable on their homepage. Google is known for replacing their logo with an image that is related to a certain event of the day in history.
That event could be a holiday, an anniversary, or some other reason to celebrate.’On the 30th anniversary of the game, many users went to the Google homepage and saw that the logo had been replaced with a Pac Man game that used the walls in the level to spell out the word “Google.”‘
Upon further inspection, many noticed that when you click on the logo, you are actually able to play a game of Pac Man on the Google homepage. In fact, the game even supported two players, one controlling their own character with the arrow keys, and the other using the W, S, D, x keys to move their character around the maze and away from the ghosts.
This move by Google made Pac Man related keywords some of the most searched for on the entire Internet that day, which is no surprise.
This is the first time that Google has ever placed a playable game on their homepage, and will likely be their last as Google is known for mixing it up when it comes to ideas like this.
The game has also been released by third party sources in a downloadable version that has drawn a lot of interest from around the web.
Pac Man was responsible for a huge shift in consciousness when it comes to gaming and technology, and Google certainly paid tribute the right way to the legendary title that has been ported and released in new versions over 50 times.
